SEAHAWKS!
Let football begin!

August 21, Brandon and I attended a Seahawks preseason game against the Green Bay Packers...we were ahead, until we were behind, then we lost!!! So sad!
A couple of my friends bought season tickets so I hope to see them at a few games...but all the home games fall on my weekend to work so we'll see how many games we actually get to.

Lodge Lake
Roundtrip 4 miles, elevation gain 900 ft, highest point 3500 ft

A lovely quick hike at Snoqualmie. This was a fun hike because we hike diagnonally up the Summit West ski slope under the chair lifts. After we reach the top of the hill, Annie Rose, Cly'ta and I then descended down toward Lodge Lake. This would be a great beginning hike for a backpacker....a great place to set up camp at the lake and enjoy the weekend. It is my hiker friends' next goal....we'll see if that happens.

Cougar Mountain ~ August 12, 2010
Roundtrip 4 miles, Elevation gain 1200 ft, highest point 6700 ft

I had to start my work stretch this Thursday evening, but for a little exercise on a really pretty late August morning, my mom and I hiked Cougar Mountain. I thought it would be a really nice 4 mile 'jaunt'. Well it was still really nice (and fun) but it got my heart rate going the entire 2 miles up. It was a lollipop route, and from the trail head you waste no time increasing your heart rate on the 'stick' part of the lollipop. That's the point I guess, right?!?! Anyway, only 15 minutes from my house, can't beat this hike. Because it was never clear cut for logging, the views of the valley aren't amazing because the trees block any view. But the trees were BEAUTIFUL and being on Cougar Mountain made me just a bit anxious that we might actually spot a cougar! Kept our speed brisk!

We will never forget.....

Rattlesnake Ledge
4 miles, elevation gain 1160 ft, highest point 2078 ft

August 10, Cly'ta, Annie Rose, their friends, Julio and Megan, and me climbed Rattlesnake Ledge in North Bend area. It was a quick little jaunt, but got my heart rate up none the less due to our brisk pace!! The best part...never feeling guilty about eating my chips during the picnic lunch!

Trying to find the Mount Catherine hike....August 6, 2010
On the way to our condo for the weekend, we decided to sneak in a quick hike. It was supposed to be a quick, straight up 3 mile hike. Well, with Brandon as navigator, we missed the hike and ended up finding an 'unnamed path' off of old logging roads to the east of Snoqualmie mountain. So...here are some pictures of that adventure.

Mount Catherine...we just didn't hike to the top as we had initally planned
Our new hike...to hike down to 2 small lakes...never made it

Our dinner ~ dance ~ auction to fundraise for
Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure!

July 30th, we held a dinner ~ dance ~ aucition to raise money for Susan G. Komen. We have done the 3 day 60 mile walk 3 years in a row. The money raise has always benefited Susan G. Komen and the National Philantrophic Trust to find a cure for breast cancer. This year the 3Day is now officially part of the Susan G. Komen foundation!! It will be our 4th year walking 60 miles! It is such a great feeling to be part of something so neat. Without a cure, one person will die of breast cancer every 13 minutes in the United States. It is such a devastating disease that has affected almost every per I know.

This year's event was very successful! So many generous people. It was titled "Ladies' Night Out" and a group of men volunteered to be the hosts. We were served a prime rib dinner. There was a dessert dash, drinks and dancing. The auction came together nicely with some very bid-worthy items. After dinner, everyone came together to dance to a live band.
I took many pictures but did not realize my little camera was on the wrong setting...so many of the pictures did not turn out very well...I will post a few anyway for the memories.
All in all...we raised almost enough for every team member to walk...we needed to raise $11,500 ($2300 per walker) and we raised about $10,000. Thank you to everyone who showed support!!!
